Editorial and Medical Review Policy
Our Commitment
Optima Vida Healthcare publishes health information to help patients and the public better understand medical conditions, treatment options, medication safety, access, and telehealth care. We aim to make complex information clear without sacrificing accuracy, context, or appropriate caution.
Our educational content is not a substitute for individualized medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment.
Who Creates Our Content
Clinical articles are written, reviewed, or approved by a qualified healthcare professional with relevant education or clinical experience. Each published article should identify:
The author’s name and credentials
The clinical reviewer, when a separate reviewer participated
The original publication date
The most recent review or update date
References when appropriate for the subject
When the same clinician both writes and clinically reviews an article, we identify that accurately and do not imply that an independent reviewer participated.
Sources and Evidence Standards
We prioritize authoritative and current sources, including:
US Food and Drug Administration prescribing information, safety communications, and regulatory materials
Peer-reviewed systematic reviews, meta-analyses, randomized trials, and major observational studies
Evidence-based clinical guidelines and consensus statements from recognized professional organizations
Government agencies and established public-health organizations
Manufacturer information for current product instructions, availability, and savings-program terms
Manufacturer materials may be used for product-specific facts, but they are not treated as the sole authority for comparative effectiveness, safety, or clinical recommendations when independent evidence is available.
We distinguish established evidence from emerging research, clinical interpretation, regulatory policy, and practice-specific procedures. We avoid presenting preliminary findings or associations as proven cause-and-effect relationships.
Medication, Pricing, and Coverage Information
Medication approvals, shortages, prices, savings programs, insurance rules, and telehealth requirements can change quickly. Articles addressing these subjects should display a review date and link to the applicable primary source whenever practical.
Published prices are estimates or reported program terms, not guarantees. A patient’s actual cost may vary by dose, formulation, pharmacy, insurance coverage, eligibility, location, and changes made by manufacturers or third parties.
Clinical Review and Updates
Clinical content is reviewed before publication for factual accuracy, appropriate context, patient safety, and consistency with the available evidence.
Content is reconsidered when:
Important new evidence or professional guidance becomes available
FDA labeling, warnings, approvals, or safety communications change
Laws, regulations, coverage rules, or access programs change
A material factual error or unclear statement is identified
The page reaches its scheduled review date
High-change subjects, including medication pricing, regulatory developments, and coverage information, should be reviewed more frequently than stable educational topics. A newer review date should be added only when the content has actually been reassessed.
Corrections
We correct material errors as promptly as practical. Significant corrections may include a note describing what was changed and when. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or link repairs may be made without a correction notice when they do not change the meaning of the content.
Readers may report a possible error by emailing support@ovhmed.com. Messages containing personal medical information should instead be sent through the secure patient portal.
Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest
Clinical recommendations and educational content are based on evidence, professional judgment, and patient safety. Payment arrangements, pharmacy relationships, affiliate relationships, sponsorships, or manufacturer programs do not determine whether a treatment is described as medically appropriate.
Material financial relationships, sponsorships, affiliate links, or other relevant conflicts associated with specific content will be disclosed clearly. Optima Vida Healthcare does not accept payment in exchange for undisclosed favorable medical claims.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Technology, including artificial intelligence tools, may assist with outlining, editing, readability, formatting, or research organization. AI-generated output is not treated as an authoritative medical source and is not published as clinical guidance without human review.
A qualified clinician remains responsible for reviewing clinical accuracy, safety, context, references, and final wording before publication. AI tools do not diagnose patients, approve prescriptions, or replace professional clinical judgment.
Inclusive and Respectful Language
We aim to use person-first, respectful, and nonstigmatizing language. We describe obesity as a chronic disease and avoid language that assigns blame or reduces a person to a diagnosis.
When sex-specific anatomy, reproductive considerations, or study populations are medically relevant, content may use terms such as women, men, female, or male to explain the available evidence accurately. We aim to distinguish biological or research terminology from assumptions about an individual’s gender identity.
Educational Information, Not Individual Medical Advice
Website content is provided for general education. It does not account for an individual reader’s medical history, medications, allergies, symptoms, examination findings, laboratory results, pregnancy status, or other clinical circumstances.
Reading an article, submitting a website form, or contacting customer support does not establish a clinician-patient relationship. A clinician-patient relationship is established only through the practice’s applicable consent, intake, evaluation, and acceptance processes.
Prescriptions and refills are never guaranteed. A clinician may recommend testing, video evaluation, in-person examination, urgent care, emergency care, or referral when appropriate.
Emergencies and Urgent Symptoms
The website, intake forms, email, and routine patient messages are not continuously monitored and must not be used for emergencies. Call 911 or seek emergency care for symptoms that may be life-threatening or are rapidly worsening.
Privacy
Do not send personal medical information through ordinary email or public website comments. Existing patients should use the secure patient portal for clinical questions. Our handling of personal information is described in the Notice of Privacy Practices and Privacy Policy.
Contact
Questions about this policy or requests for factual corrections may be sent to support@ovhmed.com. Existing patients should use the secure patient portal for personal medical questions.
