Wegovy and Zepbound Self-Pay Prices: What Patients Need to Know in 2026
The cost of GLP-1 medications has been one of the biggest barriers for patients seeking medical treatment for obesity and weight management. For patients whose insurance does not cover these medications, manufacturer self-pay programs may provide another option. Both Wegovy® (semaglutide) and Zepbound® (tirzepatide) currently have manufacturer programs offering reduced self-pay pricing for eligible patients. Here’s what patients should know about the current programs.

Wegovy Self-Pay Pricing
Did you know that Novo Nordisk currently offers self-pay options for certain Wegovy products through NovoCare®.
Oral Wegovy
Current manufacturer pricing includes:
Wegovy 1.5 mg: $149 per month
Wegovy 4 mg: $149 per month through August 31, 2026
The special $149 price for the 4 mg dose will end after August 31, 2026, and will increase to $199 per month.
Injectable Wegovy
Qualifying new self-pay patients may currently receive:
Wegovy 0.25 mg: $199 per month for the first two monthly fills
Wegovy 0.5 mg: $199 per month for the first two monthly fills
The currently posted self-pay price after the introductory offer is $349 per month.
Eligibility requirements and manufacturer terms apply.
Zepbound Self-Pay Pricing
Eli Lilly also offers a self-pay program for Zepbound®.
Current manufacturer program pricing includes:
2.5 mg: $299 per month
5 mg: $399 per month
7.5 mg through 15 mg: $449 per month when program requirements are met
Patients using the higher-dose program generally must refill within the manufacturer's required timeframe to continue receiving the $449 price. If program requirements are not met, the cost may be substantially higher.
Does This Mean Wegovy Costs $149 for Everyone?
No.
These prices are offered through manufacturer self-pay programs. They are not insurance benefits, and they are not prices established or guaranteed by Optima Vida Healthcare.
Eligibility requirements may apply, and manufacturers can modify or discontinue their programs and pricing.
Your actual cost can depend on factors such as:
The medication and dose prescribed
Manufacturer program eligibility
Whether you are paying cash or using insurance
Your insurance formulary and pharmacy benefits
The pharmacy or fulfillment option used
Brand-Name vs. Compounded GLP-1 Medications
Manufacturer self-pay programs can make FDA-approved brand-name medications more financially accessible for some patients who previously considered compounded medications primarily because of cost.
Wegovy and Zepbound are FDA-approved prescription medications manufactured by Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly, respectively.
Compounded medications are different. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review compounded products for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed.
A licensed healthcare provider should determine whether a brand-name medication, a compounded medication (when legally available and clinically appropriate), or another treatment is appropriate.
Which Medication Is Right for Me?
Price is important, but it should not be the only factor when selecting obesity treatment.
At Optima Vida Healthcare, weight-management treatment is individualized based on factors such as your:
Medical history
Your current medications
Your previous weight-management treatments
How you respond to treatment
How you tolerate the treatment (side effects)
Whether there are any Contraindications and your risk factors
Your personal treatment goals
Medication access and affordability
A specific medication is not guaranteed. Prescriptions are provided only when a licensed healthcare provider determines that treatment is medically appropriate.
What If My Insurance Doesn't Cover GLP-1 Medication?
Lack of insurance coverage does not necessarily mean that you have no treatment options.
Depending on your individual circumstances, options may include manufacturer self-pay programs, insurance-covered treatment, alternative FDA-approved medications, or other evidence-based weight-management strategies.
The goal is not simply to prescribe a particular medication. The goal is to develop a medically appropriate treatment plan that is also realistic for you to maintain.
